H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, Grand Master of the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of Saint George and Head of the Royal House of Bourbon Two Sicilies, accompanied by his spouse H.R.H. Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies visited the exhibit “Virtute et Merito” organized in honor of King Charles III.

The Duke and Duchess arrived in Madrid accompanied by their daughters, Princess Maria Carolina, Duchess of Calabria and Palermo and Princess Maria Chiara, Duchess of Capri. They visited the most historical and fascinating sites of the city connected with the figure of King Charles III such as the Parco del Ritiro, the Botanical Gardens, the Fountain of Cybele and Neptune and the Puerta de Alcalà.

The Duke of Castro was very moved as he spoke of the many places in splendid Madrid that recalled historical periods linked to his family.

Paris, October 18, 2016 – Their Royal Highnesses Prince Charles and Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke and Duchess of Castro, attended the ceremony for the conferral of the Prince Louis de Polignac Foundation annual awards for excellence in culture and the arts.
The event is sponsored by H.R.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco. This year the ceremony was held in the Simone and Cino del Duca Foundation in Paris. Also present were the Chancellor of the French Institute, Monsieur Gabriel de Broglie, and the President and co-founder, Madame Irene Daurelle.
Prince Louis de Polignac, godfather of H.R.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, who was present for the event, created the organization in 1997 to confer a medal of honor to French scholars and experts who have worked to ensure the preservation and respect of the French architectural legacy. Numerous dignitaries attended the ceremony.

Guests of the Royal Wedding in Tirana

H.R.H. Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro, accompanied by his wife H.R.H. Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duchess of Castro, traveled to Tirana to attend the wedding of His Royal Highness, Heir Apparent Leka II of Albania and Miss Elia Saharia. Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Castro, met with the President of the Republic, H.E. Bujar Nishani for breakfast. H.R.H. the Duke of Castro was then received by H.E. the Minister of Culture, Professor Mirela Kumbaro Furxhi to discuss several topics, including cultural exchange programs to be promoted between Italy and Albania. The wedding ceremony, officiated by the Mayor of Tirana, took place on October 8 in the Royal Residence of Tirana in the presence of five religious authorities who gave their blessings to the ceremony. In the afternoon H.R.H. the Duchess of Castro went to the “Zyber Halluli” Orphanage in Tirana where she visited with the children, promoting the charity project begun in 2000 and continued in 2013. H.R.H. Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies stated “Helping others is a mission that the more fortunate persons must carry out from their very heart”. The wedding banquet was held in the evening in the Royal Palace. Attending were guests from numerous Royal Houses of Europe. On Sunday October 9, the Duke and Duchess of Castro concluded their stay in Albania by meeting with the Prime Minister of Albania, H.E. Edi Rama.

A SCHOLARSHIP TO PROMOTE THE TALENTS OF NEAPOLITAN MEDICINE YEAR AFTER YEAR

5Their Royal Highnesses Charles and Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies, the Duke and Duchess of Castro, together with H.R.H. Beatrice of Bourbon Two Sicilies visited the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples
They were welcomed by the Director General of the Hospital Ing. Ciro Verdoliva, directors Franco Paradiso and Anna Iervolino and a large delegation of doctors and nurses.
The Director General illustrated the excellent services that have always been provided (since 1942) by the Cardarelli, the largest hospital in southern Italy and that the nursing staff highlighted by greeting the royal family attired in the original historic uniform of the Cardarelli medical staff.
The Princes then visited several units of the Hospital, including Hematology, directed by Dr. Felicetto Ferrara, and the Oncology Department, directed by Giacomo Carteni. Both departments are representative of the excellence of the Campania Public Health System.
It was during this visit that Her Royal Highness Princess Camilla announced that this year she is the patroness of the Quality Health Care Award and that she intended to dedicate an award to the young medical talents of Naples by granting a scholarship to the best medical school graduate of the south for academic year 2016-2017.
This decision by Her Royal Highness Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies pays homage to the many achievements that have distinguished Neapolitan medicine in Europe, starting with the free medical care that was initiated in Italy by His Majesty King Ferdinand IV when he founded the colony of San Leucio.

THE DUKE AND DUCHESS IN NAPLES FOR SAN GENNARO

New Neapolitan experiences for the heirs of the Bourbons Two Sicilies during the feast of San Gennaro in the former capital of the kingdom. On Monday, September 19, Charles and Camilla of Bourbon took part in the religious ceremony of the miracle of San Gennaro, the patron saint of the city, celebrated by Cardinal Sepe in the Duomo. In the afternoon they visited the Bourbon Chapel of Santa Chiara to deliver several scholarships for the school children of the Neapolitan suburbs and to pay homage to the remains of the representatives of a dynasty that made Naples and the South great. They then walked through Spaccanapoli and visited the shops of the artists-craftsmen of San Gregorio Armeno to purchase items for a Neapolitan crèche for the Princesses Maria Carolina, Duchess of Calabria and Maria Chiara, Duchess of Capri. Master Craftsman Aldo Vucai presented the Princes with a composition (“Tradition”) depicting an elderly Pulcinella offering his mask to a young Pulcinella. The statuettes are placed on a base made from wood of the stage of the San Carlino Theatre, where one of the last great Pulcinellas performed, Antonio Petito. The Neo Bourbons donated to the Duke of Castro a statuette of the great Charles of Bourbon in commemoration of the Third Centenary of his birth (1716-2016): from Charles to Charles up to the young Maria Carolina in a never-ending tradition of history and affection …
The Duke and Duchess of Castro then went to the Cardarelli Hospital to make a donation to the Quality Health Care Association which rewards the excellences of southern medical care.

Fundraising in favor of populations affected by the earthquake of August 24, 2016

Rome, August 26, 2016 – HRH Prince Charles of Bourbon Two Sicilies, Duke of Castro and Grand Master, profoundly moved by the tragic events that have taken place in central Italy, has decided to launch a fundraising initative aimed to assist the communities affected by the earthquake.
HRH The Grand Master has informed the Italian President of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Matteo Renzi, of this initiative in a letter of solidarity sent on behalf of the Royal family and the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of St George.
